4 Days In Dubai: The Ultimate City Of Gold Itinerary

Man standing by the waterfront in Dubai at night with modern skyscrapers reflecting on the calm water, showcasing the city’s vibrant skyline and urban atmosphere.

When I first travelled to Dubai, it wasn’t as a tourist but to explore a work opportunity. I’ll admit, I didn’t know what to expect. I had visions of a flashy city, maybe even a bit artificial, but what I found surprised me.

The futuristic skyline really is something you have to see in person, perfectly laid out, strikingly clean, and full of energy. The city hums with a sense of purpose and ambition. At the same time, the humidity and heat were stifling, so planning your days around air conditioned escapes or cooler evenings is absolutely essential.

That trip showed me that Dubai is much more than skyscrapers and shopping malls. It’s a city of contrasts where you can sip coffee in a centuries old neighbourhood in the morning, then stand on the tallest building in the world by afternoon. With four days, you can see the best of it all if you plan it right, and that’s exactly what this itinerary will help you do.

Getting Around Dubai

From my experience, the best way to get around Dubai is a mix of metro, taxis, and Uber. The metro is clean, fast, and affordable, and I recommend staying within walking distance of a station because it makes getting around much easier.

Rides cost about 4 to 8 AED on the metro and 40 to 70 AED for a taxi across town. A Nol Card is worth it if you are using public transport often, and Uber is very easy to use in Dubai when the metro does not reach your stop.

Keep in mind the summer heat can be unbearably hot and surprisingly humid, which can even be dangerous if you spend too much time outside. Plan activities in cooler parts of the day and choose a place near transit or book tours with hotel pickup to make your trip easier and more comfortable.
