If you’re here in July, nothing beats the Stampede week, I go every year, and here’s how to do it right!

The Calgary Stampede is the biggest event of the year in Calgary, and one of the largest festivals in the world with over 1 million guests each year. For 10 days every July, the entire city turns into a giant celebration with events and entertainment for everyone.

It’s not an exaggeration to say the city shuts down for the Stampede — offices close, locals dress in western wear, and the atmosphere is like one big party.

Expect variety—Calgary’s weather can shift quickly. Even in summer, mornings and evenings can be cool. A light jacket is useful even in the summer – get one here.

July is peak season thanks to the Calgary Stampede, but the weather can be pleasant from mid May to early November. Winter (December–March) is ideal for snow sports.

3. What should I pack for a Calgary trip?
